Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Pat Fannon - Cortland
Senior, West Islip, NY
Pat Fannon finished first out of 162 runners at the Oswego Invitational with a time of 25:49 over 8,000 meters. He was actually one of four Cortland runners who officially finished with the same time but was declared the race winner. Fannon led a sweep of the top eight spots in the race by Cortland runners as the Red Dragons easily claimed the team title out of 13 schools.
Defensive Player of the Week
Casey Sullivan - Brockport
Sophomore, Goalkeeper, East Syracuse, NY
Sullivan added two more shutouts to the season this past week. Against St. John Fisher, Sullivan made four saves and in a close matchup against Hobart, he made seven. So far this season, Sullivan has only allowed one goal and made 18 saves. His save percentage is currently .947 and he avearges 0.25 goals allowed per game. He has helped his team to a 4-0 start on the season.
Offensive Player of the Week
Becca Borquist – SUNY New Paltz
Sophomore, Outside Hitter, Rhinebeck, NY
Borquist hit .304 (55-14-135) and averaged 3.93 kills per set in a 4-0 week for the Hawks. She also averaged 2.07 digs per set and 0.71 blocks per set. At the Rochester Volleyball Invitational on Friday, she boasted six kills and nine digs in a 3-0 win over St. John Fisher College before hitting .341 with 20 kills in a 3-1 triumph over Skidmore College. On Saturday at the event, she tallied 13 kills in the team's 3-0 win versus Hamilton College before notching a double-double with 16 kills and 11 digs in a 3-1 victory over the University of Rochester. New Paltz won the tournament title after finishing as the only undefeated team at the event. Furthermore, Borquist was named to the All-Tournament Team. For the year, Borquist is averaging 3.30 kills per set and 2.77 digs per set.
