Katie Diem Recognized with SUNYAC's Dr. Dolores Bogard Award
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC honors Cortland's duel-sport athlete, women's soccer and ice hockey, student-athlete Katie Diem with the 2026 Dr. Dolores Bogard Award as nominated and voted on by the member institutions. This award is presented annually to a senior athlete with the best combination of academic and athletic ability with a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.30.
In Diem's 2025 soccer season she was named United Soccer Coaches First Team All-Region. She was also the SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Year and named to the SUNYAC All-Tournament Team after she helped Cortland win the SUNYAC regular-season and tournament titles. As a defender, Diem finished her season with four goals and three assists in 21 games. Overall she had five goals and five assists in her 39 career soccer games at Cortland.
During Diem's 2025-26 women's ice hockey season she had five goals, seven assists and a plus-17 rating in 22 games at the forward position. Over her ice hockey career at Cortland Diem totaled eight goals and nine assists in 39 games.
Diem graduated with a 3.98 overall GPA as a Biology major. She was named the Cortland Athletics Women's Senior Athlete of the Year and received SUNY Cortland's Outstanding Academic Achievement for Biological Sciences, awarded to the senior biology major with the highest GPA. Diem was the 2025 Women's Soccer SUNYAC and SUNY Scholar Athlete of the Year. She was honored with the SUNYAC Elite 20 Award for both soccer and ice hockey this past season. Diem was a CSC Women's Soccer First Team Academic All-American (Cortland's first-ever women's soccer Academic All-American).
Dr. Dolores Bogard was an administrator and coach at Cortland for over twenty years. She served as SUNYAC President during the 1987-88 year. Click here to see past winners.
