Cortland's Jessen and Tierney Take Home First 2025 SUNYAC Baseball Athlete of the Week Honors
CORTLAND N.Y. - Cortland's Nick Jessen (Pitcher) and Dylan Tierney (Athlete) are the first SUNYAC Baseball Athletes of the Week of the 2025 season.
Jessen allowed three hits and one run with two strikeouts and two walks in six innings in nationally 15th-ranked Cortland's 7-1 win over 11th-ranked Christopher Newport at the D3 Showcase in Greensboro, N.C.
Tierney batted .375 (6-for-16) with two doubles, a homer, three walks, seven RBI and six runs scored in a 2-2 week for #15 Cortland at the D3 Showcase in Greensboro, N.C. He hit his first collegiate homer and drove in three runs in a 7-1 win over 11th-ranked Christopher Newport, was 3-for-4 with a double, two walks and an RBI in a 14-11 loss to #5 Denison, and finished 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored in an 11-4 win over Marietta. He also handled nine fielding chances at third base (seven assists, two putouts) without an error.
