Morgan, Del Tufo and Settimo Earn PrestoSports Men's Ice Hockey Weekly Awards
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has picked Peter Morgan from Geneseo, Anthony Del Tufo from Plattsburgh and Domenic Settimo from Cortland as this week's PrestoSports Men's Ice Hockey Player, Goaltender and Rookie of the Week respectively.
First-year forward Peter Morgan helped lead the top-ranked Knights to a 1-0-1 weekend with four points. He registered one goal in the 2-2 tie against Cortland, and then tallied three points with two goals and one assist in a 6-1 win over Oswego.
Del Tufo played to a 2-0-0 record with 52 saves, a .945 save percentage and 1.50 goals-against average on the week. He began the week with 29 saves and a .967 save percentage in Plattsburgh's 5-1 win at Buffalo State on Friday. Thirteen of Del Tufo's saves came in the first period, while the game was close before Plattsburgh pulled away for the 5-1 victory. Del Tufo then completed the week with 23 saves and a .920 save percentage in Plattsburgh's 5-2 win at Fredonia on Saturday. Nine of Del Tufo's saves came in the third period as the Cardinals scored three unanswered goals to secure the victory.
Settimo scored three goals as the Red Dragons (4-2-1, 2-2-1 SUNYAC) posted a 1-0-1 record in a pair of weekend conference games. In a 2-2 OT tie at nationally top-ranked Geneseo on Friday, Settimo netted Cortland's first goal to tie the game at 1-1. On Saturday, he scored back-to-back goals, including the game winner in the third period, as the Red Dragons defeated Brockport, 4-2. For the season, Settimo has tallied six points on a team-high five goals and one assist and leads the team in plus/minus with a +5.
