Geneseo's Marafioti and Rowell earn PrestoSports Women's Lacrosse Weekly Awards
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has chosen Geneseo's Hannah Marafioti and April Rowell as PrestoSports Women's Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week respectively.
Marafioti was dominant this past week on the offensive end for Geneseo as she led the Knights to a 2-0 record, including a win over No. 17 Trinity. Marafioti tallied 6 points in a 12-11 win at Montclair and then 8 points in the win at Trinity. She was a part of over 50 percent of the Knights goals on the week with 14 points on 26 total goals. Against Montclair she tallied one goal and five assists and then against Trinity she posted three goals and five assists.
Rowell played a key factor in the Knights defensive effort for a 2-0 week with both victories coming on the road and a win over No. 17 Trinity. Rowell finished with five ground balls, one caused turnover, and an impressive nine draw controls. Rowell tallied the game-winning draw control in overtime against Montclair St. and then grabbed the game winning draw control in a 14-13 victory at No. 17 Trinity.
