Cortland Wins 2021 SUNYAC Women's Volleyball Championship
CORTLAND, N.Y. - Cortland lifted the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women's volleyball trophy for the 20th time overall and first time since 2012 Saturday after defeating Geneseo, 3-1. With the win the Red Dragons earned an automatic berth into the 2021 NCAA women's volleyball tournament.
Nicole Van Pelt led Cortland with 16 kills and was named the Tournament MVP while Hannah Southcott was right behind with 15 kills and was honored on the All-Tournament team. Carly Haegele had 25 digs in the final and was named to the All-Tournament team while Ryan Hinshaw had a team high 24 assists.

The SUNYAC Elite 20, an award modeled after the NCAA ELITE 90 program, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. This year's women's volleyball awardee is Cortland inclusive education major Maya Owens. The senior holds a 3.94 cumulative GPA.
