McGrath, Parent and Ruegge Recognized with SUNYAC Women's Ice Hockey Weekly Honors
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC selects Oswego's Ashlyn McGrath as its Women's Ice Hockey Athlete of the Week, Potsdam's Magalie Parent the Goaltender of the Week and Plattsburgh's Kayson Ruegge is the Rookie of the Week.
McGrath had an excellent week for the Lakers helping them maintain their undefeated record against two SUNYAC opponents. Against Potsdam, she assisted 2 goals and scored another. On Saturday at Buffalo State, she earned another assist, her 4th of the season and 4th point of the weekend in a big 5-0 win over the Bengals.
Parent recorded a 1.95 G.A.A., .961 and 98 saves in a 1-1 week against two ranked opponents this week. On Tuesday, she made 61 saves as the Bears defeated No. 11 Elmira College 2-1 in overtime. On Friday at Oswego, she made 37 saves and allowed three goals in a 4-1 loss to the No. 9 Lakers
Kayson Ruegge posted her second career multi-point outing, as the first-year tallied a goal and assist in a 5-1 win over Morrisville. She also notched the game-winning goal in the win, finishing with five shots on goal, as well as a +1 mark.
