Corbett, Lenihan and Morris Named SUNYAC Women's Ice Hockey Athletes of the Week
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC picks Oswego's Rachel Corbett as its Women's Ice Hockey Athlete of the Week, Canton's Molly Lenihan the Goaltender of the Week and Plattsburgh's Tessa Morris the Rookie of the Week.
Corbett had her biggest weekend of the season starting on Friday afternoon against Manhattanville. She assisted on 4 of the 6 goals scored by Oswego and continued her success the following day. On Saturday against Manhattanville, Corbett added two more goals along with two more assists which brought her point total for the week to an impressive eight.
Lenihan combined to top 67 of the 68 shots she faced (.985 save %) in a 1-0-1 week in SUNYAC action for the Roos. She opened the weekend with a 31 save shutout including making 14 in the second period of a 1-0 win at SUNY Potsdam on Friday. It was her first shutout of the season and the fourth of her career. On Saturday she followed that up with a 36 save performance including 23 over the first two periods and another four in OT of a 1-1 tie against the Bears. She now has 355 saves and a .939 save % on the season for the Roos, which rank third and fifth, respectively, in the SUNYAC.
Morris helped the Cardinals to two wins over the weekend, beginning with her first career multi-goal game on Friday. The Cards leading goal-scorer picked up two scores in the team's 5-0 win over Buffalo State on Friday, scoring in the second and third period. Morris finished the weekend with a +4 on-ice rating and had six shots over two Plattsburgh wins.
