OSWEGO, N.Y. - Plattsburgh defeated Oswego, 2-0, to win the 2025 SUNYAC women's ice hockey championship title, Saturday at Oswego's Deborah F. Stanley Arena. With the win the Cardinals earned an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III tournament.
This is the second SUNYAC women's ice hockey championship since it added the sport in the 2023-24 season. The seven teams previously competed in the Northeast Women's Hockey League (NEWHL) from 2017-2023.
Plattsburgh's goaltender, Chloe Lewis was named the SUNYAC Tournament MVP after recording two shutouts with 37 total saves in the final and semifinal games.
Elite 20
The SUNYAC Elite 20, an award modeled after the NCAA ELITE 90 program, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The 2025 women's ice hockey honoree is Oswego sophomore Helen VanDamme, a finance major with a 4.00 GPA.
