Riggi, Levy and Morris Earn SUNYAC Women's Ice Hockey Weekly Awards
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The SUNYAC picks Plattsburgh's Molly Riggi, Oswego's Lexi Levy and Plattsburgh's Tessa Morris as this week's Women's Ice Hockey Athlete, Goaltender and Rookie of the Week respectively.
Riggi helped Plattsburgh pick up the ranked win over No. 12 Nazareth on Sunday evening, notching the game-winning goal for the Cardinals. The junior forward knocked in her second goal of the season on the power play late in the first period, helping the Cards to the win in the Norwich East-West Hockey Classic opening round game.
Lakers women's ice hockey returned to action Saturday afternoon at Hamilton College. They continued their undefeated season thanks in part to the goalie play from Levi. She tallied 35 saves against Hamilton which jumps her to second in the conference in total saves. Levy is currently first in the SUNYAC in GAA (0.99) and Save % (.962). the Lakers are currently ranked 8th, nationally with an overall record of 8-0-1.
Morris helped seal the Cardinal's win over No. 12 Nazareth on Sunday evening, as the first-year forward tallied her third goal of the season in the 2-0 win. Morris notched the goal with her lone shot of the game in the second period, rebounding a Plattsburgh miss into the back of the net for the goal. She also finished the day +1 in her time on the ice.
