Three SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse Team's Ranked in Preseason Poll
The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) preseason poll was released recently and three State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) schools are on it. SUNY Cortland, Geneseo, and Fredonia State, all made the top 20 with The College at Brockport also receiving some votes as well.
SUNY Cortland leads the SUNYAC Conference in the IWLCA rankings at No. four. After losing in the semifinals the Red Dragons are looking for vengeance and hope to be champions in 2014. Led by three time IWLCA Empire Region coach of the year Kelly Taylor, this team has the ability to win a national championship.
Geneseo joins the rankings at No. twelve in the poll. Geneseo has nine out of their eleven starters back which will help them throughout the season. Senior midfielder Emily Haggerty hopes to add to her already spectacular statistics that she has compiled over the years and hopes to have a magic run at the end of the season.
Fredonia State is number twenty in the poll and is the last SUNYAC school in the rankings. After a fantastic season the Blue Devils hope to continue their strides from last year and march up the rankings. Senior Katie Kleine who had 40 goals and 25 assists last season should continue to put up these kinds of numbers as she continues to develop.
The College at Brockport was not ranked, but did receive some votes for the IWLCA preseason poll. They hope to jump into the top 20 sooner rather than later as they open up against three ranked teams.
