Women's Indoor Track and Field Conference Awards Announced
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) is proud to announce the winners of the Outstanding Female Track Athlete of the Year, Female Field Athlete of the Year, and the Women's Coach of the year. The votes were cast by the head coaches of each SUNYAC women's team.
Keira Wood (Lake Ronkonkoma, NY/ Sachem North High School) from Geneseo won the Track Athlete of the Year; JoAnn Heath (Rochester, NY/ West Irondequoit High School) from Geneseo was awarded Field Athlete of the Year. Cortland Red Dragon's coach Steve Patrick won Coach of the Year.
At the 2014 SUNYAC Championships, Keira Wood finished first in the 1 mile run with a time of 5:05.50 and finished second in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:19.97. Wood helped Geneseo finish third with a score of 105, 25 points away from winning the SUNYAC Championship. Wood is a junior and will help Geneseo continue to succeed next year.
Joanna Heath from Geneseo was awarded the Field Athlete of the Year award as she won the high jump with a jump of 1.70 meters, and finished fourth in the triple jump with a jump 10.98 meters. Heath is a freshman for the Knights who is majoring in primary and special education.

Steve Patrick, coach of the Cortland Red Dragon's was announced as the Women's Coach of the Year. Patrick led Cortland to their third straight SUNYAC Championship and their 17th overall at SUNYAC's. Patrick is in his seventh season this year and is also the head coach for the Red Dragon's cross country team. Patrick was named the 2008 U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Men's Outdoor Track and Field Division III Atlantic Region Coach of the Year. Patrick also earned SUNYAC Men's Outdoor Track and Field and Women's Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year awards during the 2007-08 season. During the 2008-09 season, Patrick was named the SUNYAC Men's Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year.Â
