SUNYAC honors spring athletes for the week ending April 13
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) honors 12 athletes from six different institutions for their performances during the week of April 7-13.

Brendyn Karinchak, Oswego Walden / Valley Central View Full Bio Karinchak threw a complete-game one-hitter to help the Lakers outlast Oneonta for a 2-1 win on Friday. The junior struck out 13 Red Dragon batters on the day without allowing a single walk. It is the third-straight game that Karinchak has went at least nine innings on the mound. He holds a 1.42 ERA on the year, allowing just two earned runs in his last four outings. |

Tim Smith, Oswego Auburn / Auburn View Full Bio Smith led the Lakers at the plate in a 3-1 week, including an upset of No. 4/5 Cortland on Wednesday. The senior batted .529 on the week, driving in seven runs while scoring four himself. He was a perfect 4-for-4 in the first game of a Saturday doubleheader with Oneonta and 3-for-5 against the nationally-ranked Cortland Red Dragons. |

Maddie Coneys, Buffalo State Clifton Park, NY / Catholic Central View Full Bio Was credited with three wins in three appearances over the weekend, pitching 11 2/3 innings with 12 strikeouts and a 1.54 ERA. Coneys tossed a five-hitter in a 9-1 five-inning victory over Plattsburgh, and then had to come on in relief in the second game, pitching two innings of shutout relieve as the Bengals rallied from a five-run deficit to win 9-8. She also had a seven-strikeout win over Potsdam on Sunday. |

Stephanie Novo, Buffalo State Cheektowaga, NY / Depew View Full Bio Novo continued to pace the Bengals' offense, hitting .600 (9 of 15) and posting a .933 slugging percentage in four more SUNYAC wins. She had seven RBIs, including a three-run home run off the scoreboard in a 7-1 win over Potsdam. She also had four stolen bases in the four games. |

Brendan Damm, Plattsburgh Montauk, N.Y. / East Hampton View Full Bio Brendan Damm compiled 10 points in a 1-1 week for Plattsburgh State. In a mid-week loss at Potsdam, Damm scored a goal and two assists. On Saturday, the Cardinals' sophomore tallied three goals and four assists to lead the offense in a 16-11 win over the Lakers. Damm paces the Plattsburgh State offense with 47 points and leads the league with 37 goals. |

Ryan Duffy, Potsdam Liverpool, N.Y. / Liverpool View Full Bio Ryan Duffy had the strongest week of his collegiate career yet. He stopped 40 of 54 shots for .741 save percentage and posted a 7.12 goals-against-average in two crucial SUNYAC victories. On Wednesday night, Duffy posted a career-high 19 saves as the Bears downed Plattsburgh 8-7 for Potsdam's first win over the Cardinals in four years. The senior was even better with 21 saves in a 10-8 victory at Brockport on Saturday. |

Erica Geremia, Cortland Camillus / West Genesee View Full Bio Geremia became just the 12th player overall and the first sophomore to reach 200 career points in program history last week. She started the week with seven points on one goal and six assists in a 14-8 victory versus #18 Brockport on Tuesday. Geremia then recorded one goal and three assists in a 12-10 win at #5 Middlebury on Thursday, reaching the 200-point milestone in the triumph. She completed the week with one goal and four assists as nationally second-ranked Cortland improved to 12-0 overall and 5-0 in the SUNYAC with an 18-4 win versus Oneonta on Saturday. She compiled 16 points on three goals and 13 assists and leads Cortland with 70 points on 29 goals and 41 assists. |

Nikki Greco, Oswego Syracuse / West Genesee View Full Bio Grecco continued her solid play in net, letting up less than five goals a game in a 3-0 week for the Lakers. She made four saves in Oswego's first win over Buffalo State since 2004. Greco had a .571 save percentage and 4.8 goals-against-average on the week. The goalie also racked up three ground balls over three games and caused one turnover. |

Samuel Taft, Brockport Schenectady / Schenectady Christian View Full Bio Samuel Taft had a strong week. At the Mondeschein Multi's hosted by Kutztown, Taft finished in second place overall with 6257 points. His strongest event was the 110-meter hurdles as he broke the Brockport record as well as the meet record with a time of 14.91. He also recorded pr's in the 100-meter dash (11.31), the long jump (6.44 meters), shot put (11.16 meters), 400-meter dash (51.80), pole vault (4.03 meters) and the 1,500-meter run (4:46.87). Currently, Taft ranks 10th in the nation in teh 110-meter hurdles and seventh in the nation in the decathlon. |

Rich Pete, Buffalo State Utica, NY / TR Proctor View Full Bio Pete won the long jump at the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational matching the longest jump in Division III this season, measuring 7.20 meters. He also won the triple jump with a winning mark of 14.53 meters, the fourth-best distance in the nation thus far. |

Sasa Vann, Buffalo State Mastic Beach, NY / Bishop McGann-Mercy View Full Bio Vann set a new school mark in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.62 seconds. She was the top Division III finisher at the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational, placing third, and her time was the 22nd fastest in DIII this season. She also ran a leg of the winning 4x400-meter relay squad that posted the nation's fourth-best time to date at 3:53.35. |

Taylor Hudson, Cortland Victor / Victor View Full Bio Hudson won the long jump and tied for second in the high jump at the Moravian College Coach P Open. She beat 40 other competitors in the long jump with her ECAC-qualifying distance of 5.64 meters (18 feet, 6 inches) that ranks 11th nationally. She tied for second out of 35 in the high jump at 1.67 meters (5 feet, 5.75 inches), which currently ranks eighth nationally. |
