Track and Field Teams Making Moves in Nationally Rankings
The Buffalo State women’s indoor track and field team jumped up 13 places to 10th and the Oneonta women moved up one spot to No. 15 in this week's United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings after strong performances last weekend.
The defending 55-meter dash national champion Erica Johnson still leads the pack of Bengals on the women's side, retaining the top time in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.55 seconds. Teammate Sasha Henry is tied for 10th on the performance list with a time of 7.81 seconds. Jazmin Dunham is 18th in the 60-meter dash (7.87), and moved into second in the 60-meter hurdles (8.80). Senior Jessica Walker remains tied for 10th in the triple jump (11.37m).
For the Oneonta women, senior Sarah Timmons continues to lead Div. III in the 20-lb. weight throw with her distance of 18.40 meters (60'-4.50”). After this past weekend the gap in the event closed a bit where her lead over the next athlete has shrunk from three feet to three inches. Junior Kacy Boburka is fifth in the high jump as the only other women's athlete to be in the top-10 in any event. Her height of 1.70 meters (5'-7”) is just ¼' out of the #4 spot. After her performance in the 800 meters this past weekend, senior Lauren Brunetto is sitting at #12 in Div. III. The two-time All-American ran a time of 2:14.75 at Boston University.
