Dalton and Hardwick Named SUNYAC Runners of the Week: Dalton Also Tabbed by ECAC
The SUNYAC announced its cross country Athletes-of-the-Week on Monday afternoon. This week's honors went to Cortland and Oswego.
Senior Alyson Dalton (Sherrill, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) captured her first individual title of the 2011 season and led Cortland to its first team win. For her efforts she was named that SUNYAC women’s cross country runner of the week. Dalton won the 92-runner Jack Daniels Shoot-Out with a time of 14:44.6 over 4,000 meters, a narrow four seconds ahead of the next runner. Her performance, one of four in the top-six by the Red Dragons, helped Cortland win the five-team event with 26 points, eight ahead of Ithaca College.
Dalton was also honored as the ECAC Division III Upstate/Metro Region Runner of the week. Full ECAC Release.
Oswego State senior Dylan Hardwick (Watertown, NY) continued to run well in 2011, posting a personal best by 29 seconds at the Houghton Invitational. Hardwick finished sixth out of 181 runners with a time of 26:14 over the eight-kilometer course. His time is the fifth-fastest in Oswego school history.
