SUNYAC Announces Men's Indoor Track and Field Awards
CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) is honored to recognize this season's Outstanding Male Track Athlete of the Year, Male Field Athlete of the Year, and Men's Track and Field Coach of the Year awards.
The Outstanding Track Athlete of the Year award goes to Oneonta's Joe Carr (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake). The Outstanding Field Athlete of the Year award goes to Cortland's Mitchel Couch (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta), and the Coach of the Year award honors went to Cortland's head coach, Steve Patrick.
Carr took first in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.96, earning an All-Conference first team selection. The Burnt Hills, NY native also helped the Oneonta men take first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.07.
Mitchel Couch took first in the men's weight throw earning himself an All-Conference first team selection. The Oneonta, NY native also took first in the men's shot put.
Patrick led the Cortland men to their eighth overall SUNYAC men's indoor track and field crown. The Red Dragons tallied 135 points throughout the weekend, winning in impressive fashion Saturday. Patrick is in his ninth season at the helm of the Cortland track and field program. This is Patrick's second times being honored as the SUNYAC Coach of the Year on the men's side, he was awarded the Women's Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year four times.
