SUNYAC selects spring athletes of the week
BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Fabio Ricci (SR) , Cortland
Position:Â Outfield
Hometown:Â Hawthorne, N.Y.
High School:Â Westlake
Ricci batted .412 (7-for-17) in a 4-0 week for the Red Dragons. He went 2-for-5 with a triple, hit-by-pitch, steal, RBI and two runs scored in an 11-2 win at Oneonta. Ricci then went a combined 5-for-13 with three RBI in a three-game sweep at nationally fourth-ranked Oswego that clinched Cortland's SUNYAC regular-season title.
BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Tanner Whiteman (SR) , Cortland
Hometown:Â Cazenovia, N.Y.
High School:Â Cazenovia
In two starts during the week, Whiteman went 1-0 with a 0.68 ERA. He allowed 11 hits, two walks and one earned run and struck out 13 in 13 and a third innings. Whiteman opened the week last Monday by allowing four hits in seven shutout innings in an 11-2 win at Oneonta. He fanned seven and walked one. Whiteman started Saturday at nationally fourth-ranked Oswego and gave up seven hits (only three after the first inning), one walk and one earned run and struck out six in six and a third innings in Cortland's win at Oswego that clinched the SUNYAC regular season title for the Red Dragons. Whiteman left in the seventh with the game tied 2-2 and received a no decision.
MEN'S LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Devin Phelps (SO) , Cortland

Phelps helped guide the Red Dragons (9-5, 4-0 SUNYAC) to a pair of wins last week, totaling nine points on five goals and four assists. In a 20-11 home victory versus Clarkson on Wednesday, Phelps recorded two goals and two assists. He followed up with a game-high five points on three goals and two assists and added three ground balls in an 11-9 home win versus Plattsburgh on Saturday. Phelps currently has 38 points on 24 goals and 14 assists this season.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Kristen Ohberg (JR), Cortland

Ohberg scored 23 points on eight goals and 15 assists in a 3-0 week for the top-ranked Red Dragons (15-0, 7-0 SUNYAC), raising her season totals to 82 points on 42 goals and 40 assists. In a 17-7 home win versus 11th-ranked Brockport on Tuesday, Ohberg totaled six points on two goals and four assists and added two ground balls and one caused turnover. In a 16-4 victory at Geneseo on Thursday, Ohberg recorded six points on three goals and three assists and became just the fifth player in program history to reach 100 career assists. She also contributed two ground balls and two caused turnovers. Ohberg wrapped up her week with a career-high 11 points on three goals and a career-best eight assists in a 20-6 win versus Buffalo St. on Saturday as the Red Dragons clinched the top seed in the upcoming conference tournament. She matched the Cortland single-game record with her eight assists, all coming in the first half.

Beshlian helped lead the top-ranked Red Dragons (15-0, 7-0) to a 3-0 record in conference games last week as Cortland clinched the top seed in the upcoming SUNYAC tournament. In a 17-7 win versus 11th-ranked Brockport on Tuesday, Beshlian made a career-high 14 saves and added two ground balls. She then stopped 13 shots in a 16-4 victory at Geneseo on Thursday, and finished the week with three saves in 38:25 in a 20-6 win versus Buffalo St. For the week, she posted a 3-0 record with a 6.06 GAA, 30 saves and a .652 save percentage.
SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK- Cat Krok (SR), Geneseo

Hometown:Â Williamsville, N.Y.
High School:Â Williamsville East
Cat Krok went 12-for-22 (.545) with eight runs, five doubles, one triple and 10 RBI in Geneseo's 7-1 week, which included late-inning come-from-behind wins over RIT and Oneonta. She had 19 total bases for a .864 slugging percentage. In her seven starts, she had five multi-hit games and six contests with at least one RBI, including three in a game two, 10-3 win over New Paltz on Saturday, April 23.Â
SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK- Jaime Berger (SR), Brockport
Hometown:Â Norwich, N.Y.
High School:Â Norwich
Jaime Berger threw her fourth career no-hitter on Saturday, beating Oneonta 4-0. The senior tied her career high of 13 strikeouts. Berger struck out eight batters in the final four innings of play with all three outs in the fifth coming from strikeouts. On the week, Berger went 3-3 in the circle, pitching 27 innings and striking out 29 batters while allowing 15 runs.
FEMALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK- Jacqueline Huben (SR) , Geneseo
Hometown:Â Williamsville, N.Y.
High School:Â Clarence
Huben posted the seventh-fastest steeplechase time in the nation at the Larry Ellis Invitational, hosted by Princeton, on Friday night. Crossing the line as the top Division III finisher in a field comprised of club, Division I, II and III competition, Huben finished 18th with a time of 10:51.05.Â
FEMALE FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK- Alexa Wandy (JR) , Geneseo
Hometown:Â LaGrangeville, N.Y.
High School:Â Arlington
Wandy posted the fifth-longest triple jump in the nation this season at the Larry Ellis Invitational, hosted by Princeton, on Saturday. Ending up as the top Division III finisher in a field comprised of club, Division I, II and III competition, Wandy finished ninth with a leap of 38 feet, 11.5 inches (11.87m).
MALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK- Isaac Garcia-Cassani (SO), Geneseo
Hometown:Â Holbrook, N.Y.
High School:Â Sachem North
Garcia-Cassani posted the 13th-fastest 5,000 time in the nation at the Larry Ellis Invitational, hosted by Princeton, on Friday night. Competing against a field of club, Division I, II and III competition, he finished seventh with a time of 14:23.92 which was also the third-fastest time in Geneseo program history.
MALE FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK- Dawan Jones (SO) , Cortland
Hometown:Â Buffalo, N.Y.
High School:Â Tapestry Charter
Jones won the triple jump at the Cornell Upstate Challenge with a distance of 14.27 meters (46' 10"). His performance is an ECAC qualifier and ranks 17th nationally in Division III.
