SUNYAC selects athletes of the week for April 4â??10
BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Eric Hamilton (JR) , Oswego
Position: Infield
Hometown: Liverpool
High School: Cicero-North Syracuse
Hamilton went 5-for-10 this weekend, as the Lakers swept the Cardinals in the three contests they played. Of his five hits, the junior cranked two doubles and a triple, collecting nine total bases. Hamilton also plated five, while crossing the dish four times himself. On defense, the Liverpool, N.Y. native recorded a fielding percentage of 1.000, collecting nine putouts and eight assists.
BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Thomas Bond (SO) , Oneonta
Hometown: Somers, NY
High School: North Salem
Although not figuring in the final decision, Bond shutdown the offense of No. 2 Cortland on Sunday in game one of a doubleheader. Bond threw 124 pitches over nine innings and struck out 11 batters while only allowing one run and five hits. Oneonta would win the game, 3-2, in 12 innings.
MEN'S LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – James Lennon (SR), Oswego
Position: Attack
Hometown: Sea Cliff
High School: North Shore
Lennon scored the game-winning goal in triple overtime, securing the 9-8 win over Oneonta. The senior took control in the Lakers' first SUNYAC win of the season, making a shifty dodge and beating the netminder 49 seconds into the third extra period. The goal also completed the hat trick as Lennon picked up two goals during regulation.
MEN'S LACROSSE GOALIE OF THE WEEK – Wyatt Russo (JR) , Oswego
Hometown: Massapequa Park
High School: Massapequa
Russo was a key defensive factor as the Lakers picked up their first SUNYAC win, defeating Oneonta 9-8 in triple overtime. The junior recorded 15 saves on the day, just one shy of his season best. Four of those saves also came in the extra periods, giving Oswego the chance to score the game-winning goal.
WOMEN'S LACROSSE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Alanna Herne (SO) , Buffalo State
Position: Attack
Hometown: Tonawanda
High School: Tonawanda
Herne tallied eight goals and five assists for 13 points in two SUNYAC games this past week. She had three goals and two assists in a 9-8 loss to Geneseo on Wednesday, and then netted five goals and three assists in a 14-4 victory over New Paltz on Friday. She currently leads the SUNYAC in scoring with 41 goals and 65 points.
WOMEN'S LACROSSE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Bridget Lincoln (SR) , Geneseo
Position: Defense
Hometown: Glen Head, N.Y.
High School: North Shore
Lincoln anchored the Geneseo defense in a 9-8 victory at SUNYAC-rival Buffalo State on Wednesday. The Knights' defender was credited with three draw controls and two ground balls as Geneseo was able to hold off the Bengals for its sixth-consecutive victory. Geneseo currently leads the SUNYAC and owns the nation's 10th-ranked scoring defense (5.58 GPG).
SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK- Jennifer Groat (FR) , Plattsburgh
Position: Utility
Hometown: Ballston Spa, N.Y.
High School: Ballston Spa HS
The Cardinals went 3-3 last week, including 3-1 in conference with games against RPI, New Paltz and Oneonta. Jennifer Groat was a huge part of the strong conference play from Plattsburgh. The Ballston Spa native recorded eight RBI's through six games, including a 6-7 performance from the plate in a doubleheader with the Red Dragons. Groat sits sixth in the conference in batting average at .443 despite seeing at least seven more at bats than anyone in the top five for batting average.
SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK- Morgan Anderson (SR) , Plattsburgh
Hometown: Johnsonville, N.Y.
High School: Hoosic Valley HS
Morgan Anderson made four appearances on the mound in six games for Plattsburgh State combining for 20.1 innings while allowing only six earned runs. The Johnsonville, N.Y. native went 1-1, while nabbing a save as well against New Paltz. Anderson leads the Cardinals with a 2.32 era and has 26 strikeouts on the year.
FEMALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK- Megan Schweizer (SR) , Plattsburgh
Hometown: Hopewell Junction, N.Y.
High School: Arlington, H.S.
Senior Megan Schweizer came away with two top-10 finishes and SUNYAC qualifying times. She finished in fifth place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.90. She also locked up second place in the 1500-meter run with a personal record time of 5:01.79.
FEMALE FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK- Marisa Gosdeck (SO) , Brockport
Hometown: Alden, N.Y.
High School: Alden
Marisa Gosdeck opened her 2016 Outdoor Track and Field campaign with a first place finish in the heptathlon at the 38th Annual Messiah College Track and Field Invitational. After day one of competition, Gosdeck was in first place with a one point lead after tying for first in the high jump with a height of 1.53-meters. The sophomore also took first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.73 seconds and first in the 200-meter run with a time of 27.95 seconds. Gosdeck tabbed two second place finishes during the second day of competition. A distance of 4.99-meters in the long jump and a time of 2:39.86 seconds in the 800 meter run capped off the 3892 points and first place finish for the Alden, N.Y. native.

Hometown: Plattsburgh, N.Y.
High School: Seton Catholic
Ryan was the top collegiate finisher, and third overall, in a field of 20 runners in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Princeton University Sam Howell Invitational. Ryan's time of 9:02.47 currently ranks first nationally in Division III and is easily an ECAC qualifier.
