SUNYAC Athletes of the Week Announced
The Athletes of the Week for the SUNYAC have been announced for the week of March 28-April 3.

BASEBALL PLAYER – New Paltz
Jake Cameron (Rockville Centre, NY/South Side), junior Designated Hitter
For the second straight week Jake Cameron (Rockville Centre, NY) is the SUNYAC Player of the Week. Cameron achieved a slugging percentage of 1.056 and boasted a batting average of .500 (9 of 18) in five games. He was involved with five of New Paltz’s nine runs in the shutout victory over Brockport as the Hawk’s picked up their second conference win of the season. Cameron now has a hitting streak of 15 games and leads the conference with a .458 average in 16 games this season.
BASEBALL PITCHER – Oneonta
Chris Smith (Colonie, NY/Colonie), junior
In his two starts for the week, Chris Smith (Colonie, NY) allowed only four hits in 14-1/3 innings to finish 2-0 on the mound. He allowed no runs over the two starts while striking out 16 batters. He pitched 8-1/3 innings and struck out 10 hitters in his 2-0 win against Fredonia. Three days later he pitched six scoreless innings with six strikeouts and two hits.

Lucia Meola (Liverpool, NY/Cicero-N. Syracuse), sophomore third base
Sophomore Lucia Meola (Liverpool, NY) batted .636 (7-for-11) in a 4-0 week for Cortland. She was a combined 3-for-5 with two walks and six RBI in a home doubleheader sweep vs. Oneonta on Sunday. She also went 2-for-3 in each game of a twinbill sweep vs. Nazareth on Wednesday. Meola is batting .487 with a team-high 10 RBI in 14 games this season including an active eight-game hit streak.
SOFTBALL PITCHER – Oswego
Jessica Palmitesso (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley), freshman
Oswego State freshman pitcher Jessica Palmitesso (Fulton, NY) threw a no-hitter in a 9-0 decision in five innings against New Paltz. It is the first no-hitter thrown by an Oswego pitcher since 2002 and the first shutout for the Lakers since March 12, 2009 when they defeated Wheelock College, 7-0.
Senior Kyle Norchi (Hauppauge, NY) became Plattsburgh's all-time leading scorer when he notched his second of three goals against Oswego Saturday afternoon in the Cardinals' second game of the week. His career point total now stands at 255, passing the old mark of 253. He was aided by a six-point game against Clarkson Wednesday, when he figured in half of the Cardinals' 12 goals, notching four goals and two assists. Norchi already holds the school record for goals with 178. The Cardinals won both games setting a new program record with seven consecutive wins.
MEN’S LACROSSE GOALIE – Potsdam

Pat Corbine (Canton, NY) recorded 14 saves to help the Bears win their SUNYAC opener 8-7 against Brockport on Saturday. The win snapped a four-game losing skid. He made four stops in the fourth quarter to secure the one-goal win after Brockport started mounting its comeback. Corbine also made 11 stops in the loss to St. Lawrence earlier in the week.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE PLAYER – Potsdam
Carly Richards (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna), junior attack
Carly Richards (Niskayuna, NY) led Potsdam to a 1-1 week as she averaged four points a game. Richards became Potsdam’s all-time leading scorer when she picked up an assist at 21:19 in the first half against Brockport Saturday and then later scored a goal with 7:23 remaining before intermission. Richards tied scoring record when she scored five goals and recorded an assist in the 23-10 win over Morrisville on Wednesday. Richards’s record now stands at 165 points.

Senior Annie Smith (Rochester, NY) made her fourth start of the season and earned her fourth win as the Blue Knights remained unbeaten with a 16-4 win over St. Lawrence on Thursday. Smith made a season high 13 saves, posting her second straight double digit save total.

Mike Heymann (Tully, NY) was the top Division III runner in the men's 5000 meter run at the Sam Howell Memorial Invitational at Princeton University. Heymann finished fifth out of 85 runners with an NCAA-provisional time of 14:30.05, 12 seconds off the winning time. He finished behind runners from Navy, Brown and Columbia.
WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE – Geneseo
Marissa Liberati (Manchester, NY/Red Jacket), sophomore
Marissa Liberati (Manchester, NY/Red Jacket), sophomore
Marissa Liberati (Manchester, NY) posted an NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 5,000 meters in the first outdoor meet of the season at William & Mary on Saturday against primarily Division I competition. Liberati finished 13th out of 57 runners with a time of 17:11.15.

Junior Ryan Pericozzi (Lancaster, NY) provisionally qualified for the NCAA Div. III Outdoor Championships in the pole vault at the Princeton University Sam Howell Invitational. He finished first out of 30 competitors in the event by clearing 4.85 meters (15 feet, 11 inches).

Nicole Jones (West Charlton, NY/Galway), sophomore
Sophomore Nicole Jones (West Charlton, NY) had three top five finishes for Brockport at the Hamilton College Invitational. Jones captured the shot put title with a toss of 12.64 meters to post an ECAC-qualifying performance. She was third in the discus with a mark of 33.11 meters and was fourth in the hammer throw with a distance of 40.12 meters.
