Knights Win SUNYAC Championship
The Geneseo men's indoor track and field team traveled to Hobart College today for the 2010 SUNYAC Indoor championships and posted five winners in winning their first team title since 2006 with 157 points to Cortland's 95. Sophomore Wenley Louis won in the long jump and the triple jump today, with NCAA provisional distances of 7.17 meters and 14.34 meters, respectively. Senior Pat Gallagher won the 400 meters in 50.14, senior Tim Chichester, who was fifth in the 3,000 meters in 8:49.67, won the 5,000 meters in 15:03.75 and junior Eric Rickman captured the shot put with a toss of 14.34 meters. In addition to Chichester, the Blue Knights distance core thrived as junior Ryan O'Connor placed third in the mile in 4:17.00 and fourth in the 3,000 meters in 8:46.98, sophomore Lee Berube placed second in the 3,000 meters in 8:31.41 and fourth in the mile (4:19.14), senior Jesse Berube was third in the 5,000 meters in 15:17.45 and senior Bobby Henchen ran fourth in the 5K in 15:18.79. Senior Ken Wickey placed third in the shot with 14.29 meters and sophomore Nwana Okafor finished third in the long jump with a distance of 6.85 meters. Geneseo travels to the ECAC championships at Smith (MA) College on Friday and Saturday.
