Buffalo State's Mateen Qualifies for NCAA's
Buffalo State senior sprinter Xavier Mateen (New Rochelle/New Rochelle) has automatically qualified for the 2011 Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Running in his first meet since winning the indoor 55-meter national title, Mateen guaranteed a trip to the outdoor NCAA meet by winning the 100-meter dash at Baldwin-Wallace with an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 10.55 seconds. He also ran a leg of the 4x100 meter relay that blazed to a win with a provisional time of 41.27 seconds. Both times rank as the second fastest in Division III so far this season.
His outstanding performance earned him SUNYAC Male Track Athlete of the Week honors.
